Below is Bolivar R-1 Schools’ Protective Face Covering guidelines that go into effect on Monday, July 27.

If you have any questions, please email communications@bolivarschoos.org or contact Bolivar Schools’ Central Office at 417-326-5291.

The district will be providing washable, cloth protective face coverings for all employees and students that will be available in August. We will also have disposable protective face coverings available for visitors. Everyone will also have the option of wearing their own protective face covering.

PROCEDURE ON WEARING PROTECTIVE FACE COVERINGS

Bolivar R-1 Schools is mindful of the evolving need for emergency measures to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. In consideration of the recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Missouri Department of Health, and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Bolivar R-1 Schools is adopting this emergency procedure, requiring the use of protective face coverings for all students, employees, and visitors of Bolivar R-1 Schools.

PROTECTIVE FACE COVERINGS

Two-ply masks help to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Please note the change in our face-covering procedures.  Students will wear a two-ply mask rather than a single-ply face gaiter or face shield.  If a student has a medical condition which requires the use of a face shield, they will bring a note from his/her doctor to school and a list will be kept in the school office for contact tracing. Ineffective mesh face coverings, gaiters, face shields or face coverings with holes will not be permitted. Protective face coverings must not include messages or images that distract from the learning environment as outlined in the student handbook. Protective face coverings that conceal the wearer’s entire face, such as ski masks, gas masks, costume masks, etc., will not be permitted.

STUDENTS

Until further action of Bolivar R-1 Schools, all students in kindergarten through the grade 12 shall be required to wear a protective face covering (a) while attending school or a school function in any school building, facility, or other area of a school campus, and (b) when riding in school-provided transportation. All protective face coverings must cover the nose and mouth of the student. This procedure applies to students waiting outside school buildings before and after school and to students waiting at bus stops. Students shall wear protective face coverings at all times except for the following:

  • Students may remove protective face coverings for eating or drinking.

  • Students may remove protective face coverings when appropriate social distancing measures are in place as determined by a school administrator

  • Students may be exempted from this procedure by the school principal due to a documented medical condition of the student.

  • Students may remove protective face coverings on a case-by-case basis for specific instructional needs and other activities, as determined by a school administrator, in which case the school administrator will utilize appropriate social distancing measures.

  • Students may be exempted from this procedure due to special behavioral or individualized needs as determined by the school administrator or Director of Special Services.

Students who refuse to wear a protective face covering at school or at a school function under this procedure shall be required to leave the school campus consistent with Board Policy JFCA on student dress. Students who refuse to wear a protective face covering on a school bus or district transportation shall be subject to discipline under Board Policy JFCC on student conduct while on school transportation.
