Bolivar High School began looking into the program approximately one year ago, forming a focus group to review the concept.  It was determined that an apprenticeship program that allowed students to get paid while completing on-the-job training might be a great fit.

"Student apprentices will begin their journey of apprenticeship in the fall after an orientation "boot-camp" to prepare them for expectations of the workplace," says coordinator Betty Glasgow.  While serving as an apprentice, students are able to gain a national industry recognized credential.

Students were welcomed into the program by a representative from Senator Roy Blunt's office, Will Wheeler, Congressman Billy Long's office, Jeremy Pruett, as well as Neil Perry, Director of Apprenticeship from the Department of Labor,Tracy Laughery, Department of Labor, and Oscar Carter Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Youth Apprenticeships.  The Bolivar Mayor, Chris Warwick greeted the new apprentices as well.
