garber and pitts

Bolivar, MO – The Bolivar R-1 School District is proud to announce two key leadership appointments aimed at strengthening the district’s operations and student success. Dr. Tim Garber has been named the next Assistant Superintendent of Academics, and Mike Pitts has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Operations. These leadership changes are designed to enhance efficiency and focus without adding new positions, resulting in one fewer district-level role overall.

The current Assistant Superintendent, Dr. T.C. Wall, announced in November that she will retire at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Dr. Garber will transition into this role, and his current position as Director of Student Services will be absorbed rather than re-posted and filled. Additionally, Mike Pitts’ current role as Director of Technology/Business will be restructured to better align with the district’s evolving needs.

Dr. Tim Garber brings extensive experience in educational leadership to his new role as Assistant Superintendent. He has taught math at Fair Play High School and Bolivar Middle School, served as an assistant principal at Buffalo Prairie and Bolivar Middle Schools, and led Bolivar Middle School as principal. Most recently, he spent three years as Director of Student Services for Bolivar Schools. Having served in various capacities within public education, Dr. Garber is committed to advancing academic excellence and fostering an environment where both students and staff can thrive.

“I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve in the role of Assistant Superintendent for Bolivar Schools,” said Dr. Garber. “I look forward to collaborating with our talented team to support the district’s proud tradition of excellence in learning and student achievement.”

"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Garber to this critical leadership position," said Dr. Michael Methvin, Bolivar R-1 Superintendent. "His dedication to student achievement and strong background in education will help drive our district’s goals forward."

Mike Pitts, the newly named Executive Director of Operations, has a proven track record of leadership and operational excellence. He currently serves as the Director of Technology/Business at Bolivar Schools. In his new role, Pitts will oversee the district's various departments, including finance, facilities, human resources, and other day-to-day operations, to ensure smooth and effective support for Bolivar schools.

“This is an exciting opportunity, and I am honored to serve our district in this capacity,” said Pitts. “My wife and two sons are proud Liberator graduates, and our family deeply loves this district. I am committed to contributing to its continued success in every way that I can.”

“Mike’s expertise and commitment to operational efficiency will have a tremendous impact on our schools and community,” Dr. Methvin added. “We look forward to his contributions as he works to create safe, functional, and innovative learning environments.”

Dr. Garber and Pitts will assume their new roles on July 1st, 2025.
