The purpose of this newsletter is to celebrate the outstanding work that our students and staff are doing in each of our schools, provide district-level updates, and notify you about important upcoming events.

Second Semester Out of School Dates Here are our Out-of-School Dates for the Spring Semester! These are the best days to schedule appointments and vacations. Thank you for helping us make attendance a priority! Strive for 95% Attendance! Sowells Completes First Teaching Pathways Apprenticeship Congratulations to 2024 BHS graduate Layla Sowells for being the first BHS student to complete a Teaching Pathways apprenticeship through BoMo Works!Sowells was required to complete 2,000 hours of on-the-job training. Sowells completed her hours working at the Early Childhood Learning Center, gaining hands-on classroom experience while still in high school and continuing after graduation!

Teacher Proud Tuesday and Super Staff Saturday Nominations We are accepting nominations for Teacher Proud Tuesday and Super Staff Saturday. On the second Tuesday of each month, we celebrate Teacher Proud Tuesday, recognizing one teacher from each building. These teachers are also in the running for the Teacher of the Year award. Thank you to Mid-Missouri Bank for sponsoring Teacher Proud Tuesday. Super Staff Saturday is new this year. On the third Saturday of each month, we will celebrate one non-certified staff member from each building. These are paraprofessionals, cooks, custodians, nurses, school resource officers, secretaries, and maintenance/grounds. These staff members are also in the running for Employee of the Year. Kelli Jones Visits BHS and ECLC Thank you to Kelli Jones, the Deputy Commissioner of Learning Services at DESE, for visiting Bolivar High School and the Early Childhood Learning Center! We highlighted our BoMo Works program and shared the plans for the expansion of the ECLC building, which will provide hands-on learning for students interested in entering elementary education!
 $1,287 Raised from Downtown Ice Skating for BHS Air Force JROTC Thank you to the Downtown Bolivar Association for donating the proceeds from the ice skating on the square to our BHS Air Force JROTC program! More than 400 people skated on the ice, raising $1,287 for our cadets!
Siegfried Makes All-State Honor Band, First Chair Bass Clarinet
Lydia Tilley, Emma Howes, and Aileen Siegfried auditioned for the All-Star Ensembles in Columbia. Congratulations to Aileen Siegfried for earning 1st chair bass clarinet in the All-State Ensemble! This is Aileen's third straight year making the All-State Honor Band. Emma Howes earned a spot as an alternate on Horn!
 Coach Hoegh Wins 300th Career Game
Congratulations to Coach Robby Hoegh for winning his 300th game at Bolivar High School on December 9th!
Moore and Samek Place 2nd and 3rd in State FFA Public Speaking
Congratulations to Skyla Moore for placing 2nd place in the state in Teach Ag, and Ellie Samek for placing 3rd place in the state in public speaking!

   6th Grade Blue Wins Penny Wars for Toys For Tots
Congratulations to our 6th-grade Blue team for winning the BMS Penny Wars for Toys for Tots! They were be treated to a movie at the Esquire! BMS raised more than $250 for Toys for Tots!

Morning Drop-off Procedures Beginning Tuesday, September 30th, and running each day school is in session, BMS will be following updated morning drop-off procedures. Please review carefully:

7:00–7:30 a.m.
All students (grades 6–8) should be dropped off at the FEMA gym doors.

7:30–7:45 a.m.
-
All 7th–8th grade students should be dropped off at the FEMA gym doors.
Breakfast will still be served and available beginning at 7:30. Students dropped off at the FEMA gym can simply walk to the cafeteria from inside the school to get breakfast.
All 6th grade students (or families dropping off a 6th grader along with a 7th/8th grader) should be dropped off at the Main Entrance.

After 7:45 a.m.
All students (grades 6–8) should be dropped off at the Main Entrance.
The FEMA gym doors will close promptly at 7:45.

Main Entrance Reminder
No students should walk to the front entrance and wait for doors to open.
Students arriving before 7:30 must enter through the FEMA gym.
Students who walk to school and arrive before 7:30 will also be directed to the FEMA gym.

Jackson Street Safety
Families should not drop off their student(s) anywhere on Jackson Street for them to walk to the front door.
All students must be dropped off at their designated entrances as outlined above.

Traffic Pattern for FEMA Gym & Field House Drop-Off
Access the FEMA Gym drop-off area from the Jackson Street drive.
Drive south toward the football practice field, then turn to proceed along the Field House/FEMA gym.
Exit by driving west along the maintenance building toward the Jackson Street stop sign.
Do not let students off in the teacher parking lot at the west side of the building, and do not attempt to pass through the west side parking lot to access Jackson Street.

Government Officials Join BIS for Presentation
A huge thank you to Judge Jill Porter, Alderman Dusty Ross, Dr. Tim Garber, Dr. Michael Methvin, Rep. Chris Warwick, Mayor Mike Stephens, school board member Brian Thompson, and Deputy Abe Dickerson for speaking to our 5th graders about government today! The students were eager to ask questions about how local government works!
STEAM Night Hosts Hundreds of Families
It was an evening full of creativity and hands-on learning as our students explored science, technology, engineering, art, and math!

 BPS, BIS, and BMS Students Attend SBU Women's Basketball GameStudents saw the Bearcats win big on December 18th! Our students participated in in-game activities between quarters and met the players after the game!

Mike and Teresa Parson Visit ECLC
Thank you to Mike and Teresa Parson for visiting our Early Childhood Learning Center yesterday! We provided an update on the expansion project, which was made possible through a $3 million appropriation in Governor Parson’s 2025 Missouri Budget!
