Posted Date: 05/06/26 (08:46 AM)

Bolivar High School is proud to announce that nine outstanding seniors have been named recipients of the prestigious 2026 Hagan Scholarship. This nationwide, need-based merit scholarship is one of the most comprehensive in the country, providing each student with a potential value of over $180,000 to support their journey through higher education and beyond.

The 2026 Hagan Scholars from Bolivar High School are:

  • Aileen Siegfried

  • Ellaina Porter

  • Kami Bryan

  • Wyatt Campbell

  • Emma Howes

  • Heidi Roweton

  • Owen Thiessen

  • Kai Thiessen

  • Josie Thomas

With nine recipients in a single graduating class, these students have secured a combined scholarship potential of $1,620,000. The Hagan Scholarship is designed to help high-achieving students from rural areas and diverse backgrounds graduate college debt-free. The scholarship package includes:

  • $60,000 for undergraduate tuition and expenses ($7,500 per semester).

  • $30,000 for graduate school studies.

  • $50,000 in a managed Schwab Investment Account to teach real-world wealth management.

  • $8,000 toward a study-abroad experience.

  • $2,000 for immediate "dorm essentials" (computers, bedding, and supplies).

"There aren't words to describe how proud of these students I feel right now!” said Alana Shockley, College and Career Advisor at Bolivar High School. “They have put in the hard work not just this year, but in all the years leading up to this. They are an extremely deserving group, and I have so much confidence that they will be a success story in the future. BHS has truly remarkable students and families, and I am blessed to get to work so closely with them!”

Beyond the financial support, Hagan Scholars participate in specialized workshops that cover practical life skills not typically taught in a classroom, ensuring they are prepared for both the professional world and personal financial independence.

The Bolivar School District credits much of this exceptional success to the dedicated guidance provided on campus. Bolivar High School extends a heartfelt thank-you to Alana Shockley, College and Career Counselor.

"Alana is truly amazing," added Dr. Michael Methvin, Superintendent of Bolivar Schools. "Her tireless work, expertise in the application process, and personal commitment to every student are a big reason why Bolivar has so many recipients this year. She has been instrumental in helping these students navigate the path to this incredible opportunity."
